Happy Friday, everyone! Today’s book cover is plain in the sense that it’s black and white, but I love the style to it. Check out this vintage edition cover for Moby-Dick by Herman Melville.
Very tribal/ancient war scene, isn’t it?

Love the artwork here. Simple, yet very effective and even creepy. I also like the two guys at the top seemingly about to jump that whale ninja style.

You can’t really tell from this picture, but the whale has spears sticking out of his head. There are also people in the black/grey background… and I don’t know… how they look throws me off. It’s probably one of the reasons I haven’t actually gotten around to reading it yet.

Agreed — there’s a lot going on and the art doesn’t seem to work together very well. Plus, the whale swimming through the big “O” is totally cheesy :D
