In addition to my upcoming review of Ninja: 1,000 Years of the Shadow Warrior, written by historian John Man, I’d love to collect your pressing questions about real-life ninjas and answer them. If not by me, then by reaching out to Man himself.
I’m hoping to round up at least 10 questions for this to happen. So — spill!

I have three:
1) What was the ninja’s weapon of choice for assassinations?
2) What was the average lifespan of a ninja? (Not sure if this kind of info is available)
3) During what period were ninjas most active?
I’ve always been fascinated by ninjas, so can’t wait for your review! :)

I already know the answer to that one! :) But I’m going to try first to get the author to respond to these.

Did they really camouflage themselvs with outfits similar to those in movies?
How did they keep their villages secret so that families of those they’d assassinated wouldn’t strike them in their homes (if they’d ever do a sloppy enough job to be caught in the trail, or being squealed about by others).
I love ninja! The thought of ordinary people like farmers doing extra assassination jobs to make a living is interesting.

Thanks! You guys are coming up with awesome questions. If you know anyone else who’d like to have their questions answered, please have them pass their Qs along! I need a couple more to justify reaching out to the author. :)

Good news, guys! Your questions are on their way to John Man as I write this. I’m not sure how many he’ll answer, but I want to thank you all again for contributing such awesome questions! I’d like to do this kind of thing again in the future.
