Today I’m sharing one of my favorite stories: Le Petit Prince, or The Little Prince, by Antoine De Saint-Exupery. My amazing boyfriend introduced me to this book, and I’ll always cherish it for that reason. Plus, it’s a great read! That helps, too.
You can find the French version (with almost the same cover pictured below) or the English version on Amazon or Barnes & Noble (where it’s also available in both languages).
De Saint-Exupéry first published the book in 1943, only one year before he and his Lockheed P-38 aircraft disappeared over the Mediterranean. He’s been nicknamed the “Winged Poet” and also wrote Wind, Sand and Stars, Night Flight, Southern Mail, and Airman’s Odyssey.
This cover looks so wonderfully childlike in its design. What do you think?
I have absolutely no idea whether this is a legitimate cover or not, and I couldn’t find any evidence that it was, but it’s still damn cool. Found it on this blog. I think the article writer’s description is apt: It’s “frumpy” and it “screams ‘Acid rock'”!
Even searching for Penguin versions with an introduction by Margaret Atwood and David Bradshaw and a $7.99 UK (I think that says “UK”) cover price yielded no results. If anyone manages to figure this one out, let me know!
